Late May is too late to see the LadySlippers, almost...

A few days after graduation we went out to look for the Ladyslippers - Cypripedium acaule - (in the woods about 100 paces SE from the front door, if the front door points due East); we saw three in bloom and a number of leaf-only protuberances. We'll want to look for the Ladyslippers in April next year, hoping to see more blooms, but the spread of the orchids seems wider than in years past. The orange key chain SX hung on the tree still indicates where these guys live.

Found more info on the orchids here and here.
